Adventures from October!

South Carolina State Fair

It’s not often you get to visit places like the State Fair, but when you do, it’s like stepping back in time. For a few moments, you relive those childhood memories—the thrill of the rides, the smells of fried everything, and the sounds of people all around. Now that I’m older, though, the nostalgia hits a bit differently. Sure, the cheap food doesn’t sit quite right anymore, but I still found new joy in the experience.

The fair isn’t just about rides and food; it’s a place full of history and local lore. There’s so much to take in, and while words and photos can only capture so much, I wanted to share this experience with you all. It’s important to me that this website doesn’t just feel like a content machine—I want you to get a sense of who I am. Maybe through that, you’ll find something that resonates with your own journey, too.

So here they are—some snapshots from my October. Thanks for joining me on these small adventures.

What I'm Reading

Book cover for American Fiction

I’ve been diving into *Watchmen*, and it’s honestly unlike any other comic I’ve read. It’s set in a world where superheroes didn’t just stay in the background; they’ve actually reshaped history. The U.S. won the Vietnam War, Nixon’s still president, and the Cold War tension is at an all-time high. It all kicks off with a mysterious murder, and then spirals into this huge conspiracy that pulls in a group of retired heroes. As they dig deeper, their own flaws and dark pasts come to light, blurring the line between hero and villain in a way that feels unsettlingly real.

What’s been hooking me isn’t just the story—it’s the incredible artwork, too. It’s gritty and detailed, fitting perfectly with the heavy themes. Plus, *Watchmen* is part of DC’s new Compact comics line, which makes it a lot more accessible to pick up and dive into. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re into stories that make you question everything you thought you knew about heroes.
